Tree replacement for PG&E removed pines and oaks

St Mary Mead

Five easels with displays were arrayed around the small meeting room at the Vet’s hall last Thursday for an Open House set up by Cori Marsalek of the County Department of Public Works. A representative of the project designer and three other people from Public Works were on hand for about an hour to respond to questions and concerns of those who showed up for the event. Here’s what you should know: The bridge on Main Street (near Santa Rosa Creek Rd and the dog park) needs to be replaced. The current bridge could fail in the event of a diaster and would severely limit the ability of Cambrians to get out or emergency teams to get in. While there may be some delays and periods of time when traffic will be reduced to one lane, you will be relieved to find out the approach for this bridge replacement will not close down the road to through traffic like the one on Moonstone Beach Drive at Leffingwell Landing. The plan calls for a realignment of Main Street and a new bridge that is upstream of the current bridge. Work isn’t likely to start before mid-2010. If you are interested in the project, contact Cori Marsalek at the SLO County Department of Public Works. The display is likely to come back to town a showing at a future North Coast Advisory Council meeting, so if you missed it this time around, keep an eye out for that showing.
