I have always thought that from a political standpoint Cambria is un-American. It’s more like a Marxist state where there are no private property rights, no US Constitution with a 5th Amendment. In Cambria, local voters can band together and vote themselves a monopoly on the water supply, block expansion of that water supply, and then use it as an excuse to take millions of dollars worth of private property and command it’s use to suit their own pleasure.

I think your comments are so very true. Being in the trenches has taught me a lot about how things get done around hear. Especially, the not what we say, but how we say it mantra.
I wish you could have seen what the CCSD tried to pull on September 23, 2008 at the San Luis Obispo courthouse. If I was a vacant lot owner in Cambria, I would want to start the revolt as soon as possible.
With the buildout reduction plan now set to move forward, it will now be time for the CCSD and the local “no growthers” to come clean with the vacant land owners (stakeholders) and the community at large who might just get stuck with paying this bill.
Fortunately, time is on our side, and the desal plant will have to be permitted as a public facility, with its wastewater being treated at “our” sewer treatment plant.
Of course, the “no growthers” can always build another sewer treatment plant and pay for that one also.
It’s time for this community to get its head out of the sand, and deal with the situation that is fair, equitable, and in everyone’s best interest.
When you have nothing to say you dreg up the old communist boogeyman. Too bad you couldn’t think up something original to say. There are no communists in Cambria just Republicans and Democrats who are about split even. Remember you don’t have to live here it is still a free country.

I have found that when it comes to nimbyism and raise the drawbridge mentality, Republicans and Democrats are equally likely to act like communists when they think their own property and selfish desires will be impacted.
What do you mean by “I don’t have to live there” and “It’s still a free country”? Are you suggesting that since nobody is forcing me to live in Cambria that you who are there should be able to do whatever you want, since I am “free” to live somewhere else?
If it was really a free country, I would be able to build a house on a lot I own in a residential neighborhhood with a water main out front. But local voters in Cambria are blocking my rights, and I apparently have to go to court to force them to honor the consitution.
