CCSD EMPLOYEE BENEFITS: I’ll Bet You Didn’t Know!

VOTE NO TO STOP THE CCSD RATE INCREASE AND

$8.1 Million Financing

DID YOU KNOW THESE FACTS:

  • CCSD IS PAYING 95% of all family medical insurance premiums for current and retired employees, 95% of family dental premiums for current employees, up to $1300 per year for out-of-pocket medical expenses for current employees, and a pension of 90% of the employee’s highest salary after 30 years’ service, with NO EMPLOYEE CONTRIBUTION TO THE PENSION. This benefit package is equal to 69% of their salaries and far more generous than that of Federal Employees, State Employees, Municipal Employees, and most, if not all, other employees.
  • CCSD IS PAYING the GENERAL MANAGER $120,000+ in salary, $1200 per month housing allowance, $450 per month car allowance, and the above benefits.

Remember- by NOT submitting a protest form, you are approving the rate increase and the $8.1 million debt! Protest forms are available from Cambrians at the Post Office, the Farmer’s Market, here at AboutCambria.com or at the hearing. All protest forms must be received prior to the close of the CCSD public hearing at the Vets Hall on MONDAY, July 14, 2008 at 5:30 P.M. PLEASE ATTEND!

    Amanda’s Note:
The California Constitution guarantees your right to have a say on taxes, fees and charges you are required to pay to your local and state governments. A dedicated group of Cambrians have worked to provide information and make it easy for you to have your voice heard. Protest letters may be submitted in writing – you are not required to use the form the CFR has developed – but using it does ensure all the required information is included in your protest letter. At the recent CCSD meeting, General Manager Tammy Rudock attempted to clarify the protest process. What I understood of the explanation was this: To be valid, protest letters should be mailed to P.O. Box 65, Cambria 93428 or brought in person to the CCSD office or to the July 14 hearing at the Vet’s Hall.

  2. M. Webb says:

AMANDA! THIS IS NOT CORRECT! CCSD did not even send out a Protest Form!!

The only Protest forms that have been sent were paid for and sent by the protesters! These Protest Forms are TOTALLY VALID when sent to C.F.R.! WE will deliver each and every form to the public hearing on July 14 and each and every one will be copied by C.F.R. You should really get this straight. I suggest every person send their form to C.F.R. as we will be sure your vote counts! I cannot guarantee that a protest form will be counted by the CCSD at this point can you?

    Mary

  3. Elizabeth Bettenhausen says:

All Cambrians who pay water and sewer rates–

One thing’s very clear: every single protest letter is needed.
Whether you use the CFR form or write your own letter, your protest is needed. Whether CFR or you delivers your form, your protest is needed.
Whether the CCSD or CFR first receives your form or letter, your protest is needed.

    What’s also clear:
    sending your protest to the CFR enables careful counting and delivery of your protest to the CCSD;
getting your protest in before July 14 spares you a last minute rush; and
keeping involved as members of the community is a great way to celebrate the 4th of July!

  4. LYNDA OLSEN ADELSON says:

Mary Webb and Elizabeth Bettenhausen are right — at this point i don’t think we can trust the ccsd.
I urge all Cambrians to sign this protest. I just heard that the ccsd attorney, who couldn’t find a house he liked when he was hired, and was given a ccsd-created water meter, now has this water meter and the land to which it was applied, on the market. Water meters alone are selling for close to $400,000 without land, so this should give him a tidy profit at ratepayer expense — and one more home will be built for which we have no water. What a disgrace.
This is just one of many, many examples of the ccsd playing fast and loose with our money, and why they can no longer be trusted by Cambria’s ratepayers.
